Increasing domestic heat and power generation ratios is an important solution to reduce energy tolerance and carbon dioxide emissions. Fixed fuel cells can generate both thermal and electrical energy. They can cover both domestic and industrial applications, and are important measures to reduce environmental pollution and save energy costs.

Fixed fuel cells are based on SOFC technology, and electrochemical reactions take place in high temperature ceramic substrates. Depending on the demand for electrical energy and thermal energy, different fixed fuel cells can be customized to optimize production time and increase design flexibility to increase market competitiveness. FCH JU is actively studying how to reduce the production time and cost of fuel cells.

It is reported that FCH JU is promoting the Cell3Ditor program, the purpose of the plan is to develop 3D printing technology and introduce the technology into the production of SOFC. In this way, the SOFC stack is produced in only two steps, which simplifies the production design process and shortens the time to market, thus saving costs. Compared with the traditional ceramic production process, the new production method can save 60% of the cost, and the initial investment of the fixed fuel cell site can be reduced by one third.
