Fixed fuel cells are based on SOFC technology, and electrochemical reactions occur in high temperature ceramic substrates. FCH JU is actively studying how to reduce the production time and cost of fuel cells.

3D printing or manufacturing process for producing SOFC batteries

It is reported that FCH JU is promoting the Cell3Ditor program, the purpose of the plan is to develop 3D printing technology and introduce the technology into the production of SOFC. In this way, the SOFC stack is produced in only two steps, which simplifies the production design process and shortens the time to market, thus saving costs. Compared with the traditional ceramic production process, the new production method can save 60% of the cost, and the initial investment of the fixed fuel cell site can be reduced by one third.
