In the previous method of furniture testing, it was always laborious and cost-effective, and there were loopholes. In the end, it was detected that “the bamboo basket was in a hurry”. At present, China's environmental quality inspection of wooden furniture is carried out by the State's "Interior Decoration Materials - Limits of Hazardous Substances in Wooden Furniture". The only items required for testing are formaldehyde and heavy metals. The method of testing formaldehyde was to take a sample of 0.075 square meters from a set of furniture, and saw it into a small sample of 5 cm × 15 cm in a desiccator, and test the concentration of free formaldehyde released after 24 hours. This standard is actually aimed at the specific sheet, not the finished furniture.
The finished furniture and the set of furniture are essentially different from the test samples. First of all, there is a great difference between the actual area and the area of ​​the test sample for the finished furniture and the set of furniture. For example, it takes about 3 square meters of plates to make an ordinary writing desk. It takes more than 10 square meters to make a set of bedroom cabinets. Even the sheet area required for a bedside table is about 1.5 square meters. The difference between the two areas is tens or even hundreds of times. As a result of this standard test, it is impossible to objectively and truly reflect the release of harmful substances in the finished furniture.
It is reported that the new standard is expected to be implemented as soon as the end of this year. The implementation of the new national standard will better protect consumers' home safety. According to the person in charge of the furniture association, the revised new furniture testing standard will demonstrate its advantages in three aspects: first, the overall testing, the results are more reliable; second, non-destructive testing, low detection risk; third, environmentally friendly furniture, more A veritable name.
