Application of HPLC in the monitoring and analysis of fermentation broth in the production of ethanol from a biofuel

<

The increase in ethanol production from biofuels will lead to the conversion of relevant regulations worldwide. As a raw material for potential alternative fuels, those renewable biological resources that can be converted into biofuels are rapidly gaining attention in the energy industry. The ethanol production process uses fermentation procedures, and optimizing the production and quality of ethanol requires monitoring of the fermentation broth. During fermentation, the concentration of ethanol is inversely proportional to the concentration of carbohydrates. Therefore, monitoring the carbohydrate concentration level is a key indicator for deciding when to stop the fermentation process. The HPLC method established in this paper is being applied here. During the fermentation process, three key parameters, including 8 compounds, can be easily monitored and quantitatively analyzed.
