US 3Dom launches new glass PLA 3D printed wire

Recently, 3Dom, a US company that has introduced degradable 3D printed wires, has introduced a new type of wire – a glass-filled PLA wire made of a mixture of conventional PLA materials and glass fibers. Compared to conventional PLA wire, this new wire has better strength, toughness and flexibility, and the price will naturally be more expensive.

3Dom introduces this new wire to promote the manufacture of 3D printed parts that can be used in engineering or real life and to increase the creative tools of the maker community.

According to China's 3D printing network, the new wire has a maximum tensile strength of 57 MPa, which is nearly 40% higher in strength than conventional PLA materials and 30% higher in toughness. It also has 1.9 times the elasticity of traditional PLA materials with a tensile elongation of up to 3.4%.

Similar to the usual PLA material, the new material is less prone to warping during printing and has no special odor. The printing temperature is 190-210 °C. It can be printed on non-heated construction tables without the need for special extruders. In addition, according to 3Dom, the objects printed with this material are similar to ceramics and have a high degree of finish.

The new materials are currently available on 3Dom's official website, and the prices for both the 1.75mm and 2.85mm models are $49/roll/kg. It is worth noting that the support structure printed with this material is difficult to remove due to the hardness.
