Natural treatments such as vegetarianism and yoga do change blood components

<

In a new clinical controlled trial, researchers tested blood-based inflammation, cardiovascular risk, and cholesterol reduction factors in Indian natural remedies such as vegetarians, meditation, yoga, and massage.

This is not only a discussion of the effectiveness of natural remedies, but also a rare study of the use of metabolic biomarkers to study the health benefits of Eastern traditional medicine and holistic medical practice. Senior research author of the study, Dr. Deepak Chopra of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, is a supporter of traditional holistic medicine.
Researcher introduces research purposes
Dr. Chopra said: “It seems that a week of natural remedies in India can significantly alter a person's metabolic profile. As part of our overall systemic research strategy framework, our next step is to link these changes to gene expression and mental health. ""
The co-author of the study, Dr. Paul J. Mills, pointed out that alternative medicine and traditional holistic medical practices, such as meditation and natural remedies in India, are very popular, but their role in human microbiome, genomics and physiology is unclear. He said: "Our plan is to fill these gaps in the literature."
The first author, Dr. Christine Tara Peterson, said: "The researchers analyzed the effects of natural remedies on plasma metabolites in a controlled clinical trial. This natural remedy in India helps and strengthens the body through massage, herbal treatments and other procedures. Detoxification and rejuvenation operations."
Research methods and results
The study was conducted in California, USA, with 119 healthy male and female participants aged between 30 and 80 years old. More than half of them participated in a $2,865 Indian natural remedy for the week, with the rest serving as a control group. Plasma was analyzed by liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry before and after 6 days of treatment.
The researchers found that a decline in the chemical properties of 12 specific cell membranes (phosphatidylcholine) was detected in the Indian natural therapy group. These substances are inversely related to the onset of serum cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Peterson said: "These phospholipids have a wide-ranging effect on the pathways of inflammation and cholesterol metabolism, and the metabolites of phosphatidylcholines in plasma and serum are very predictive of cardiovascular disease risk."
Using a less stringent measurement standard, the researchers determined the rich differences in 57 additional metabolites between the two participants. The authors believe that because the duration of the trial is very short, serum changes may be driven by the vegetarian diet of natural remedies in India. They said that further research is needed to better understand the processes and mechanisms involved.
Xiaobian testimonials
Seeing this article, Xiao Bian thinks that Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, Tai Chi and Qigong are also traditional medical therapies with magical effects. Can you also use system biology to study their metabolomes and genomes for various tissues? What is the difference? Of course, it is not easy for researchers to accurately resolve the spectrum.
